Anonymous: So I'm just curious.... With all your rants about 'fake gypsies/gypsy's' what makes you any different?
What makes me different little grey face is that i DON’T call myself a “gypsy”, i dont call my belly dance a “gypsy dance” because there are enough dancers out there that perpetuate the stereotype without my help, and between the followers i have here and a personal friend who is Rroma, and save for my rants tagged with “gypsy” you wont see anything anymore that is tagged inappropriately.
I have made it PERFECTLY clear to my troupe that I will now allow any mention of “gypsy” or even Rroma in our dances. We each have our own styles, but I do my best to educate and point people to the blogs on here who are run by ACTUAL Rroma people.
Presently I plan on modifying my Renaissance character history to remove the “gyspy” aspect out of it, because of what i have learned. Considering that I am busy with 10 other things at the moment, it is not top on my list of things to-do, that and the festival wind hasn’t started to blow in my neck of the woods yet.
I am doing what i can to take the offensive word from all of the sites that i have in association with dance and Faire.
I don’t claim to know everything, but i know a shitton more than most gadje do.
